MH Weekly 13: Learn Arabic blogpost, Logic of the Birds & ICNA CON

👋🏼 Muslim Hub Weekly

Salam friends,

You asked, and we listened: we're locking in to review & curate products from Muslim Hub to help you find the best picks.

This week, we're featuring the best products from our Learn Arabic collection, complete with a guide to get you started!

If you’ve felt a disconnect in your prayers or felt like you’ve been neglecting the Qur’an then this is your sign — you can rejuvenate this connection by engaging more deeply with the Book of Allah ﷻ.

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Whoever recites a letter from the Book of Allah, he will receive one good deed as ten good deeds like it. I do not say that Alif Lam Mim is one letter, but rather Alif is a letter, Lam is a letter, and Mim is a letter.”

I’ve tried all the products from our Learn Arabic collection, and I’m bringing you the best of the best. You get to choose what your goal is & that will determine what resource is best for you.

You could pick a course to master Arabic, or you could download an app just to understand what you’re reciting in your prayers.

You could also just learn some Saudi vocab so that you can use this meme.

It’s completely up to you & we’ve got all your bases covered 🫡

We cover Classical (Qur’anic) Arabic, 3 major dialects & include classical textbook recommendations.

Check it out & pass it along to that one friend of yours who’s been meaning to learn Arabic for years!

Logic of The Birds

When you begin to learn Classical Arabic, one of the things they teach is pre-Islamic poetry of the Arabs. It sets the context of the language of the Qur’an, but more importantly, it teaches eloquence.

Professor Oludamini Ogunnaike has recently launched “The Logic of the Birds”, a podcast that features eminent scholars & poets from around the world to discuss Sufi poetry & its themes.

Some of the episodes that stand out for me:if

  1. Inaugural episode about Rumi’s poetry

  2. Episode 8 on the poetry of Ibn Al-’Arabī, and how it shaped the interpretation of Sufi and other Islamic poetry that came after him.

  3. The most recent episode, featuring Sh. Seyyed Hossein Nasr on Hafez.

ICNACON: Sustainable Islamic Economy

This past weekend, ICNA MAS held their 49th conference (#ICNACON) in Baltimore, and there were more events than you can count. One of them was about what a “Path to a Sustainable Islamic Economy” could look like, featuring LaunchGood’s very own Chris AR Blauvelt & Amany Killawi, but also Dr. Aamir Rehman and Zoya Finance’s founder Saad Malik.

It was great — you just had to be there. ( i was not )

For all the founders reading this, would you be interested in talking to LaunchGood’s founders Chris & Amany about what it takes to build a unicorn Muslim business?

Reply to this email and if enough of you are interested I’ll make it happen & get you an invite!
