MH 15: Boycat, Palestinian products, Spark Awards

receive $100k for your startup, boycott Israeli products & buy Palestinian products, and more..

Salam friends,

I hope everyone had a great Eid!

As Eid is an occasion to visit family, I went to my aunt’s house, where I was served a delectable drink made with sparkling water.

Now of course, some people just can’t find the sparkle in sparkling water.

its like drinking water, with a hint of pain!

But being a gentleman of refined taste I thoroughly relished the crisp refreshment.

Until I realized that my aunt used SodaStream, a staple of the BDS boycott list to make it.

In quiet, internal horror I politely continued sipping, wondering..if only there was a way my aunt would’ve known, and boycotted this Israeli brand…

Enter: Boycat

Think of Boycat as your grocery store companion, that helps you boycott Israeli products.

Simply open the app, scan, and it'll let you know if the product is on the BDS list or not.

never eating sabra hummus again..

The best part? They’ve got alternatives, so you’re not missing out on anything. They’ve even started spotlighting Palestinian businesses!

Support Palestinian Businesses

This has long been a long thesis of ours at Muslim Hub: it’s not enough to boycott, we must must go a step further & support Palestinian businesses.

To help you with that, I’ve put together a list of the best products Made in Palestine, directly supporting Palestinian farmers, artisans & entrepreneurs.

3 of my favorite picks:

  • A tasbih made with olive wood, by Handmade Palestine.

  • Handbags embroidered with tatreez, by Sunbula.

  • A kufiya poncho, so you can show your solidarity in style, and comfort - by Sitti Soap

If you missed it, then don’t worry because I’ve got you covered!

I took extensive notes from all the sessions and will be posting them on the Muslim Hub blog. Topics like:

  • Abdellatif Abdelfattah (Tarteel & Usul) gave us his best advice on how to build a startup.

    • incl. growth hacks for viral content & tips on how to monetize

  • Amany Killawi (LaunchGood) teaching us how to assemble a world-class team.

  • Dr. Waleed Kaddous (leading generative AI at Canva) on how to integrate AI into Muslim products.
