Muslim Hub Weekly #4 - Shop Palestine 2

👋🏽 Muslim Hub Weekly

بِسْمِ ٱللَّٰهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

Salam friends,

Welcome to our weekly roundup! This week I want to continue to highlight some gems from our Shop Palestine collection.

But before I get to that I want to show you guys a cool new feature on Muslim Hub: you can now favorite a product and save it for later. Just click on the heart icon located in the top-right corner of each product page, and it’ll show up under your favorites when you click on your profile picture, helping you keep track of some of your favorite products.

Sunbula is a store in Sheikh Jarrah, Jerusalem that sells handcrafted goods made by 25 traditional artisan collectives, to an international audience with their shipping options.

Some of their products which stood out to me include their kitchen utensils made with olive wood, their gorgeous cushion covers and the summer handbags with wooden handles!

But Sunbula is much more than that, providing countless artisans across the West Bank & Gaza with materials, equipment, vocational training, and product development support.

Something for our UK subscribers!Zaytoun brings the taste of Palestine to your table, whether it’s fudgy Medjoul dates, sweet crunchy almonds, zesty za’atar, smoky freekeh, or world-renowned extra virgin olive oil.

But I think the most interesting thing about Zaytoun is actually how they run their company. Zaytoun is a social enterprise that reinvests 100% of profits driven by their mission to support Palestinian farmers via fair trade.

I love that they highlight their farmers, so you know exactly who Zaytoun is breaking the barriers of illegal occupation & exportation for. Zaytoun doesn’t just introduce the finest of Palestine’s groves & fields to world, but showcases the exceptional people behind them.

Since Zaytoun doesn't cross the pond to the US, I wanted to bring our stateside subscribers a top-notch brand that’s just as awesome! Canaan works with over 1,000 families across 43 villages to produce choice olive oil & a variety of food products using sustainable, regenerative agricultural practices. Al-Ard is also a great alternative — I paid an ungodly amount for shipping to Canada that you won’t have to but it was well worth it!

Fun Fact: Do you know some bottles of olive oil are called ‘Rumi’ ? It’s not a reference to our favorite mystic poet, it’s because it was made from olive trees planted since the time of the Romans, over 2,000 years ago — سُـبْحانَ الله

Palestine Bazaar

This past week, I was delighted to attend a "Palestine Bazaar" hosted by our local masjid. It was an enriching experience where I met a diverse group of vendors and engaged in meaningful conversations.

These bazaars are becoming increasingly popular across North America, showcasing the rich culture and unique products Made in Palestine. Our intention is that Shop Palestine at Muslim Hub becomes the digital equivalent of these events — a platform to highlight an even wider array of products and services that physical events cannot showcase, by extending the bazaar online.
